What is RFID?

Radio Fequency IDentification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. Radio waves transmit and receive data. This eliminates the need for direct line of sight to the tag in order to read it. RFID readers, can read and write hundreds of tags at the same time within their field.

Today, a significant thrust in RFID use is in enterprise supply chain management, improving the efficiency of inventory tracking and management. RFID-enabled systems cut costs, increase accuracy, reduce labor, improve production. The technology is more flexible and had greater capacity than barcode technology.
